Prose to Poem…………..my poem Enough

Enough

Along
the shoreline,
I see it,
opalescent
against the sand,

fragment of shell.

As
children,
we heaped
cheap plastic buckets
with summer wonder,

sure that
more was all.

Intent
on shape,
form, and color,

unknowing,
we found beauty

in fragile pieces
of some other
wholeness.

A lifetime later,
breathing deep
another summer,

I reach
for this one
scrap of shell,
frayed,
yet flawless.

It is enough.
